Position Summary

We are looking for a dynamic fundraiser with a track record of success with annual and/or capital campaigns to be part of team that plans and implements a major donor program for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.  The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is an arts presenter, facilities operator and economic development organization located in downtown Pittsburgh.  With an annual budget of $70 million, the Trust manages more than 10 performance/exhibition venues, facilitates over 2,000 performances annually and partners with other arts organizations to encourage more people to live, work, and play in the Cultural District. 

The Major Gifts Officer will join a team of fundraising professionals responsible for meeting the overall major gifts fundraising goals of the Trust, including the Capital Campaign.  Responsibilities include direct solicitation of gifts of $10,000 and higher, managing a portfolio of major gift prospects, creating or enhancing relationships with current and prospective donors, and coordinating planned giving efforts.

Essential Functions:

Plans and executes a strategic and comprehensive major gift ($10,000+) fundraising program for annual support and capital campaign.

Manages a personal portfolio of active prospects and donors, including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Conducts donor prospect analysis, including review of wealth screening results.

Develops donor recognition levels and recognition opportunities.

Creates, inspires, and maintains donor loyalty and enthusiasm through stewardship, communication and activities designed to express recognition, appreciation and impact of their gifts.

Reports regularly on the “moves management” progress of major donors and prospects and on progress toward monthly and annual fundraising goals.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five years’ development experience is required. 
  • Prior experience with major gift program management and securing five figure gifts is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and advancement software required.  Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or Tessitura fundraising software preferred. 
  • Ability to travel locally and attend events with evening or weekend hours as needed.
