Position Summary

We are looking for a Development Communications Specialist to join the Development Department of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.  The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is an arts presenter, facilities operator and economic development organization located in downtown Pittsburgh.  With an annual budget of $70 million, the Trust manages more than 10 performance/exhibition venues, facilitates over 2,000 performances annually and partners with other arts organizations to encourage more people to live, work, and play in the Cultural District. 

The Development Communications Specialist will join a team of fundraising professionals responsible for ensuring that Development communications are consistent and reflect and support the organization’s strategic vision.

Essential Functions:

Creates, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive fundraising communications plan that builds awareness of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust as a compelling and worthy charitable organization.

Researches, writes, edits, and manages projects for all of the Development Department’s print and electronic communications including proposals, reports, letters, web content, stewardship/donor relations materials, presentations, briefings and collateral materials.

Works with the fundraising team to develop and implement stewardship strategies that strengthen long-term relationships with major donors.

Creates and executes stewardship plans for donors at various recognition levels and ensures plans are compiled, documented and communicated to all involved parties.

Establishes and manages information tracking processes regarding recognition, on-going communications and continued cultivation of past and current major donors to enhance their relationship with the Trust.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience
  • Good project management and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized, results-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
